WORD PRESS REVIEW

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gentle, Beautiful Tool Of Empowerment

Dream Your Joy Oracle Cards are comprised of a 59-card deck and a 128-page instruction book. They come in a sturdy cardboard box in the shape of a book. The author’s bio is listed inside the box cover.

The cards are 3 1/2 “ by 5”, made of a sturdy, glossy stock with no borders. The imagery is very gentle and done largely in pastels. The cards are very easy to handle.

In her introduction, Mastrangelo describes herself as an artistic painter of pictures and an author who chooses to look for the positive in life. She notes that this deck has many intentions, including sharing her artwork and sharing suggestions on how to bring happiness into your life by dreaming joy into your unconscious, then manifesting it into your life.

She urges everyone to look deeply within themselves to discover their innate talents that they can develop.

The purpose of this deck is to empower those that read it to feel the great joy and love that can be found in the universe.

In this deck, Mastrangelo is continuing to develop her own technique called Mind Painting (one that she introduced in her first deck – Inspirational Visions). It is used to paint a picture in the mind of the user of what their perfect life would be like.

In these cards, Mastrangelo is sharing her own visions through the use of colors and symbols. She advises the reader to allow themselves to experience the joy to dream their life.

The technique suggested to be used with these cards is to spread them over the table and pass your hands over them. Then place them face down on the table. By touching the cards, the readers intuition will tell them which cards are meant for their reading.

The cards are presented in a two-page spread – the left-hand page shows a full-color image of the card, while the right-hand side shows the name of the card, its purpose, and an exercise to place the card’s energy in the life of the person being read for. These are powerful exercises, making use of tools such as relaxing exercises, daydreams, meditation, affirmations, and more.

Examples of the cards include Lady of Stars (Our guiding light), Winter Delight (There is warmth even in the icy cold), Water Lily Pond (Never stop dreaming), Toy Box (Always keep your childhood memories safe within your heart), Thoughtfulness (Keep your mind and abilities going strong), and Rain (Liquid abundance).

This deck is a wonderful tool of empowerment that can be used by all ages. It can be used to do readings, to connect with your intuition, for personal growth, to connect with children/grandchildren, and more. I highly recommend it.

One note: the type in the book is very small and hard to read. Perhaps this will be a benefit, as it will cause readers to slow down and pay attention to what they are reading.

Beautiful and well put together

Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2023

“This is an amazing collection that has Oracle Cards enclosed in a book shaped holder. The illustrations are wonderful. Although I don’t know much about oracle cards, this collection is amazing to have around. One thing I have problems with is relaxing, these cards, and beautifully done illustrations can help with that. The illustrator and the company who put this set together, did an amazing job. I will be definitely be keeping my set handy, and also make the time to share with family and friends. I have read several books by this author, and am impressed, not only with her artistic skills with painting, but the beautiful things she has to share in writing.”

REVIEWS

“For me, Judy Mastrangelo’s books are all about the fantastic illustrations. It’s not that her stories are not lovely, it’s just that her illustrations are so completely amazing, everything else fades in comparison. I was a little girl who adored fairies, princesses, and magic and mystery and I would have loved these books. As an adult, I still enjoy these things and take delight in reading Ms Mastrangelo’s lovely little stories and looking at the pictures, again and again.

This book is also very worthwhile from a literary point of view for children. The author has taken a selection of popular fairytales and other famous stories and summarised them into bite sized chunks suitable for younger children. I was delighted to see some of William Shakespeare’s plays included in an abridged form including The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Romeo and Juliet, as well as some other favourite stories of mine like Thumbelina, Hansel and Gretel and Alice in Wonderland. There were also a few stories from Greek mythology which I know from personal experience with my sons, nieces, and nephews are hugely popular.

I am a fan of abridged versions of stories for young children because they introduce them to the delights of fairy tales and other stories, without bogging them down in sophisticated detail. Children who are introduced to abridged classics and fairytales often go on to read the original versions when they are older.

This is a book that would delight any child’s heart and make a wonderful and special gift.”

“Beautiful traditional fairy tales accompanied by stunning illustrations. A must for any fairy fan as it transports you to another world. Judy Mastrangelo’s illustrations have a luminous quality as if painted with light. Uplifting and magical.” – Judith Hannah Shiel

“Every piece of art she creates is pure beauty and magic. I can just imagine the authors of these classic stories if they could see what she has done with their stories. They would be so thrilled! Maybe they are looking over her shoulder when she creates them! lol Anyway, I am a collector and obviously a huge fan of hers. She has brought so much beauty and magic to the world. Thank God for her, the world needs it. For grandmothers like me to all ages. The thrill will be the same!”

I was thrilled to receive a complimentary deck of Judy Mastrangelo’s new release: Inspirational Visions Oracle cards.

I followed the instructions, meditating before I shuffled and drew two cards: Pan and Unicorn (magical beings surround us) and Where Candy Trees Grow (lands of childhood live within us always throughout our life.) The two cards seemed uncannily appropriate as my favourite genre to write is magical realism/fantasy and I am young at heart for my age! A gorgeous set, truly inspirational. ❤” Kyrosmagica Publishing (Read the full review)

Interview with Owl and Pussycat

Meet our new author Judy Mastrangelo and check out two of her books!

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always loved to create paintings, even as a child, and writing about my graphic art has always been enjoyable to me too.

How long does it take you to write a book?
I “Daydream” about my work in the beginning, and create what I call a “Mind Painting” of my ideas. So my illustrations and writing for a book go hand in hand together. I always illustrate all of my books. I don’t paint very quickly, since it’s a labor of Love for me, and I try to make my art as good as I can. So that sometimes it takes me several years to complete a book that I’ve both written and illustrated.

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
Some of my work time is “in my mind” in the beginning of my workday. So doing actual painting and writing varies throughout each day. My creative process is very enjoyable to me, and as a result, I don’t usually keep to a strict schedule.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I suppose the answer to that is my process of combining the art of painting and writing together to create a book.

Interview with Colleen Chesebro

Hello everyone! This week, I’m thrilled to introduce you to an award-winning illustrator and author: Judy Mastrangelo. I asked her to pick three or four questions from my huge list.

Your book covers are works of art! What did you want to become when you were a child?

Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a graphic artist.  The world was a magical and inspiring place for me then, and it still remains so now that I’m an adult. I wanted to paint the lovely faces I saw in flowers, the sparkling morning dew in the grass, and clouds reflecting the glorious colors of twilight.

Animals have always had fascinating and unique personalities to me. And within my colorful imagination, my fellow humans seemed to evolve into gods, goddesses, and any number of otherworldly spirits.  So in a few words, the World was and still is my inspiration for my imaginative fantasy artwork that I love to depict in my paintings.

Even as a youngster, I would develop my art first in my mind as a picture rather than doing preliminary sketches.  Later on, as a grownup, I came to term this method “MIND PAINTING”.

I always have an idea of what I want to create before I begin a project.  I use my method of “MIND PAINTING” in which I conceive of ideas and accompanying paintings in my mind as one total vision before I start.  It’s an exciting way to create, and I’m sure many other authors and Illustrators do the same.

Another term that can be used for this method would be “inspiration”.  I don’t really labor over trying to think of an idea.  Concepts just come to me as “Visions”, and I dearly welcome them all gratefully.

What I wanted to become when I was a girl was a “Painter of Visions and Words”, and that is still my goal.  It is my spiritual passion.

As I “daydream” about my “Visions” that I want to put on canvas, I often create words to go hand in hand with these images.  The creation of this form of “mixed media art” has been a great delight for me throughout my lifetime.  It has developed into books that I both write and illustrate, combining my love for the visual images, and the written word.

I find the mixture of words and images very exciting.

I suppose it harkens back to our experiences when we were young and the wonderful feelings we first had when visiting the Magical Land of Books.  It is similar to watching a movie that we love.  And yet reading a book is different in that we can add our own personal images and feelings to it in addition to the accompanying illustrations in a book or film.

Entering into the exciting world of literature is a wonderful escape from our everyday world.  It gives us the opportunity to experience many adventures and to identify with various characters, which we wouldn’t normally have to the opportunity to do.  This art form is very fulfilling, as is all art in general.

Interview with Kaye Lynne Booth

My guest today is an author and talented illustrator of children’s fantasy books. She seems a bit shy, but I was able to coax a few answers out of her, regarding writing for children and creating beautiful illustrations. Because, after all, at least half of writing for children is creating visual images, so an author who can do their own illustrations comes into the game a step ahead. Please help me welcome author and illustrator Judy Mastrangelo.

Kaye: When did you know you wanted to be an author?

Judy: I’ve always enjoyed writing, ever since I was very young.

Kaye: Would you share the story of your own publishing journey?

Judy: As a child I would write little stories from my imagination, or about my everyday experiences.

Coming from a fine art background, I’ve always loved the wonderful artists of the “Golden Age of Illustration”, who illustrated books from about 1850 to 1925.  I like to think that I continue along this line in my own small way.  I enjoy writing stories that I illustrate, and also love illustrating classical stories in the public domain.

Many of my paintings have been licensed for various markets, such as art prints, wall murals, greeting cards, jigsaw puzzles, oracle cards etc.  I have written and illustrated several published books.  And I have both illustrated and written the text to a new inspirational Oracle Card Deck which will be on the market next year, published by “RED FEATHER MIND BODY SPIRIT”, a division of Schiffer Publishing.

You can see and hear podcasts about my artwork on Youtube.

These include some radio interviews, plus several teaching podcasts about the steps I take in the creation of my Art.  To learn more about my Art and products, you can visit: www.judymastrangelo.com

Kaye: What’s something most readers would never guess about you?

Judy: I am a “movie buff” and enjoy many genres of film.
